Helpful Hints for Personalized Accessibility
Increase Text Size: To increase the size of text you can use the A | A | A links at the top right corner of the page. Each 'A' will adjust the size of the text accordingly.
Increase Page Size: To increase the size of all the images and text, follow the instructions below:
Windows
Increase size: hold ctrl and press '+'
Decrease size: hold ctrl and press '-'
Back to Normal: hold ctrl and press '0'
Mac
Increase size: hold apple and press '+'
Decrease size: hold apple and press '-'
Back to Normal: hold apple and press '0'
Navigation: the Abilitas logo
You can return to the site homepage at any time by clicking on the Abilitas logo at the top left of the screen.
Navigation: link-to-link navigation
You can use the TAB key to move from one link to the next throughout the site.
Navigation: title-to-subtitle navigation
Users equipped with tools such as voice recognition software can navigate from section title to subtitle.
Navigation: navigation menus
The main menu is at the top of the screen (level 1) and gives access to the 5 sections of the site.
The secondary menu, at the left of the screen, gives access to all level 2 content.
Personalization: changing the size of characters
Users can use the built in functionality to increase browser font size as listed above, or alternatively by clicking the appropriate "A" at the top of the page
Screen Size
The Abilitas website was optimized for a resolution of 800x600. While screen sizes are getting larger, many accessibility devices still operate at lowers resolutions.
Personalization: deactivating C.S.S. (“Cascading Style Sheets”)
The decorative features of the site (colors and predefined font style and size) can be disabled. The procedure varies according to your browser:
- Mozilla Firefox: go to the "Display" tab at the top of the browser, then select "Page styles" and choose "No style"
- Internet Explorer: go to the "Tools" tab and select "Internet options". A dialog box will open. Select the "General" tab. Click on the "Accessibility" button. Tick the first 2 boxes in the dialog box: "Ignore specified colors on web pages" and "Ignore font styles specified on web pages". Confirm by clicking "OK".
Alternatively, users can choose to view an accessible verson of the website by clicking the link at the top of this content page.
