Accessibility is Child's Play (support opportunity)
Imagine a child, watching her friends and sibling play, but not being able to join in. Many kids living with a disability face this disappointment, as certain kids' spaces, including many playgrounds, simply are not accessible for them.
Accessibility and inclusion are of central importance in Abilitas' respite lodge initiative. Abilitas has developed & designed an exciting playground with swings, accessible surfacing, a structure and various play panels, which integrates the play of children living with a disability easily into that of their siblings, friends, and peers, so that they can get exercise together, through fun, physical activity.
Abilitas gratefully received a $26,000 gift from Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) towards the creation and installation of this playground. Thanks RMHC for your generous support!
Abilitas is looking to find one or several co-sponsors for our accessible playground. Please support this important aspect of the Cold Water Ranch Lodge project.

Did you realize...
One in six BC residents has a permanent disability, whether this is a visual impairment, a spinal cord injury, or another kind of physical or cognitive impairment. Most of them live below the poverty line. Issues of cost and accessibility make much-needed respite and opportunities for outdoor recreation unattainable dreams for many families & individuals.
